It’s always nice to hear from our friends and especially when they send us photos. Sometimes we get tired of writing about ourselves. Here’s a photo of artist and writer Margy Gates. She is the artist who created the illustrations for our two books, Exploring the Salish Sea: An Artist’s View and Exploring Southern California’s Beaches and Islands: An Artist’s View.
Margy has just moved her art gallery to her home in Oxnard, California. We wish her the best of luck and hope to entice her to illustrate another book soon.
Here’s another message and photo from our dear friend Alison Gabel, Margy’s daughter, holding a copy of our Exploring Alaska cruising guide. She tells the story of her friends, Steve and Trish Brown, with whom Alison and her husband sailed across the South Pacific with in 2010. Steve set off to circumnavigate the Americas on his boat, Novara. He started in Maine and was one of four boats to successfully pass through the Northwest Passage last year and has recently pulled into LaPaz, Mexico. Allison met him and Trish in Glacier Bay a few months back. “I was thrilled to see that Steve’s primary reference for the Northwest and Alaska was your book [Exploring Southeast Alaska]!” she tells us. “I made him take my picture in front of Margerie Glacier holding your cruising guide.”
If you’re a friend or fan, we’d love to hear from you.
